Financial aid helps students and their families pay for college. This financial assistance covers educational expenses including tuition and fees, 食宿, 书籍及用品, 和运输. There are several types of financial aid, including grants and scholarships, work study and loans. Financial aid awards may include a combination of the various types of aid.
The 金融援助 and Scholarship Office and NDSU One stop has professional staff members to administer the aid programs and advise students and their families regarding the financial aid and scholarship opportunities available to them.
The four basic sources of financial aid are:
- 联邦财政援助 - the largest source of financial aid that offers several different aid programs
- 状态 – North Dakota has various different aid programs based on financial need, 学术价值, 人才, 或者职业选择
- 机构 - colleges and universities offer numerous scholarships and grants to students
- 私人来源 - come from many different civic organizations, 协会, 俱乐部, 基金会, 教堂, 企业, 银行和信用合作社
The four types of financial aid are:
- 奖助金 - awarded to students that show they have financial need, grants typically do not require repayment
- 贷款 - a source of aid that must be repaid, 通常有利息, after you graduate or stop going to school
- 就业 - a program where students may work and earn money to help pay for school
- 奖学金 - awarded to students based on special 人才, skills or high academic achievement
注意: Some loan, employment and scholarship programs have financial need as a requirement.
